Homemade Hair Butter Recipe
Many people have come in the store and asked about how to make this hair butter. So I decided to post the recipe. Now, I can’t & won’t take credit for this recipe. I saw it on Naptural85 YouTube channel.
Hair Butter Recipe
- Unrefined Shea Butter (room temperature)
- Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (room temperature)
*(Blend the 2 base ingredients together first)
- 1 tbsp Castor Oil
- 1 tsp Jojoba Oil
- 1 tsp Sweet Almond Oil
- 1 tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
*(Optional Oils)
Apricot Oil Grapeseed Oil
As you can see in the video, you can make the consistency of this recipe based on your hair type (fine or thick). I love this hair butter, & so does my hair! I’ve been using it for almost 2 years now. I like to see how I can use things in multiple ways. I guess it’s the multi-tasker in me that makes me feel like products (at least most of them) should multi-task too. Of course I tested the hair butter, & it passed with flying colors.
I also use it to:
- Moisturize my lips
- Fade dark spots/ improve skin tone
- Moisturize my skin.
You can use it as a body butter too. You can even thin it out to have more of a lotion consistency by adding more oil.
This isn’t a miracle hair or body butter. I attributed its success to the ingredients in it. Let’s take a look at them in more detail.
Unrefined Shea Butter
Shea butter promotes healthy skin and hair. It’s known to help improve skin troubles including dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, burns, stretch marks, wrinkles, blemishes/ dark spots, skin rash such as diaper rash, and much more. It’s also known to help moisturize dry hair and scalp, lock in moisture without clogging pores, protect hair against weather damage, soften hair, and more. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is known to condition and strengthen hair, help improve dandruff, moisturize and soften skin and hair, help improve skin troubles such as dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, burns, stretch marks, wrinkles, blemishes/ age spots, skin rash, cradle cap, diaper rash, sunburns, and more.
Castor Oil
It’s a thicker oil packed with minerals, Omega 6 and 9, proteins, and vitamins such as vitamin E. It’s known to moisturize and penetrate deep into the hair follicle and root to hydrate hair, improve dandruff, promote hair growth, strengthen and thicken hair, smooth and condition hair. It’s also known to moisturize and penetrate the skin to soften and hydrate the skin, delay the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, help sooth sunburn, and promotes healthy nails.
Jojoba Oil
This golden color oil contains many minerals and vitamins that promote healthy skin and hair: vitamin B complex, copper, vitamin E, selenium, and zinc. It’s commonly used to help protect the hair follicle shaft and root, strengthen hair, moisturize and soften hair and skin, improve dandruff and tangles, help to improve scars and stretch marks, help sooth sunburn, remove makeup, and improve fine lines.
Sweet Almond Oil
This oil is rich in vitamin D and E, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and other minerals. It’s known to help improve skin troubles such as psoriasis, cracked lips or heels, eczema, stretch marks, wrinkles, and dark circles. It’s also known to delay the appearance of aging on skin, moisturize skin and hair, help normalize the PH of skin, improve dandruff and tangles, soften skin and hair, promotes less hair breakage, and help remove makeup. Sweet Almond oil is known to be a popular massage oil too.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
You can use this oil for more than cooking. It’s also commonly used to promote hair growth, moisturize and soften hair and skin, improve dandruff, condition and strengthen hair and skin, add shine to hair, and improve skin troubles such as eczema, diaper rash, cracked skin, cradle cap, dry skin, sunburn, and more.
Grapeseed Oil
Do you love grapes? Well, you may love the oil from their seeds too. Grapeseed oil is light and commonly used to help tighten and tone skin, moisturize hair and skin, promotes hair growth, improve dandruff and luster, strengthen and condition hair, close pores, and help improve skin troubles including acne, wrinkles, dark circles, and fine lines.
Apricot Oil
This light oil is known to moisturize hair and skin, help sooth eczema and other inflamed skin troubles, improve dandruff, help improve skin tone and slow aging, soften skin and hair, and promote hair growth.
As you can see, all of the ingredients individually promote healthy hair and skin. No wonder they work so well together. No worries, you don’t have to comb the internet for the ingredients.
